The Storm Team stands for “Special Team Of Role Models”
At Nokido Ju-Jitsu, we believe in being a responsible member of the community and helping others that are less fortunate and in need. As part of our Nokido Ju-Jitsu Storm Team requirements, students must perform community service as part of our program. Our goal is to not only support some of the local charities/organizations in our neighborhood, but to help our students develop a habit of community service that will hopefully last a lifetime! This is what the Martial Arts are really all about! Like the great Samurai warriors, we want our students to "live by the code" and help set an example for others to follow.
Being a member of The Nokido Ju-Jitsu Storm Team is a prestigious position, which is offered to less than 10% of our student body. In an effort to be continually improving our standards we consistently look for candidates who we feel would benefit Nokido Ju-Jitsu and the students. As a Storm Team member you are looked upon as a member of the instructional team and a role model.
You will be requested to help teach at least 2 evenings a week. You will also have minimal absence, an orange belt or higher, at least 10 years of age, a “C” or above average in school, and have full protective equipment. You will need to attend a special training class and meetings to stay updated on current events. After an 8 week trial period your application will be placed forward to be graduated on to the Storm Team. Graduation will enable members to special privileges such as a special uniform, patches, training, and discounts on equipment and apparel.
Members are expected to display the following attributes:
Leadership, Excellence, Service within the Dojo and the community, Teaching, Motivation, Intensity, Great attitude in and out of the Dojo, Modesty, Patience, Courtesy, Perseverance, Self-Control, Hard Work, Dedication, Respect, Integrity & Discipline. Have no negative contact with the law, once becoming a member of the team, and receive positive feed-back from parents, teachers, community leaders, Dojo Owners / Instructors. Members must remain drug-free and for adults no excessive use of alcohol (if at all).
Storm Team Duties, Roles & Responsibilities:
Storm Team members will be required to assist the running of
at least two sessions in addition to their normal two training sessions per
week
Attend all Storm Team member training, evaluation and meetings
Help all new members settle into the class
Be a role model for all members of Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo
Storm Team is designed to teach students to
Develop and improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and positive attitudes.
Set and achieve realistic goals.
Accept that attendance at class, punctuality, and reliability, are part of being personally responsible.
Learn how to be a
positive role model for Nokido Ju-Jitsu & Judo students,
family, and their community.
Accept the
consequences of their actions
Use the S.T.A.R. Stop, Think, Act, and Review decision-making model to
solve problems and resolve
conflicts.
Learn how to
instruct and how to develop and follow lesson plans.
